Burrill began enrolling marathons in 2004 once she was 86-years old. She put in 30 to 50 miles each week training with her running partner, 66-year-old George McCarthy.

"We knew Glady was an impressive athlete and she made a big attempt a couple yrs agone, we are just so energised that our 1st world record goes to a such a big person as Glady Burrill," says Dr. Jim Barahal, Honolulu Marathon President.

Guinness World Records also accepted the record for the longer parasailing marathon: 24 hour 10 minute, adjust by Berne Persson (Sweden) on Lake Graningesjön, Sweden.
