About 3600 Kannadigas of different parts of the world sang folk songs in an event to set about a world record in Bangalore.

On Thursday, players from Dubai, Australia, Canada and the U.S. Participated in the event.

Kekeri Krishnamurthy, the main musician of the event, said Limca Book of Records has agreed to mark the event as a record and the organisers will send it is taping to Guinness World Record too.

"This is an global event. These singers (are) not only from Karnataka or not only of school, these are from wholly over the world, 13 different nations, 30 states and one hundred thirty districts. So, this is the 1st time in the history," said Krishnamurthy.

"So, I wish to recommend, send this compact disc to Guinness Books of Records too. Limca Book of Records definitely, they've already given their accept. So, this is attending Limca Book of Records," she added.

Nagesh Desai, the inventive director, said seeing the overwhelming reaction, he was definite the event would find a mention in the Guinness World Records.

"Altogether the musicians over Karnataka and across the world. So, ie the one part and now we have seen such a heavy programme, over 15-20 1000 (audience). It will definitely become Limca record," said Desai.

The instrumentalists and singers had passed 9 months rehearsing for the event.

Over 20 thousand people gathered to witness the initiative to popularise folk music and Kannada language over world.

"It is impressive to hear over 3000 Kannada songs. We actually enjoyed. Everyone should hear and enjoy Kannada songs," said Uma Ramesh, a spectator.

The event was organised by a regional news channel and fans of renowned Karnataka folk singer, Dr. C. Ashwath.
